Capgemini is pleased to invite you to the Data Driven R&D Conference, that will take place on October 20th in Barcelona (PIER01 - Pl. Pau Vila, 1).

The spiralling costs of drug discovery and late-stage failures, together with phenomenal increased volumes of biomedical data has shifted drug discovery into a data-centric era. Life sciences and pharmaceutical companies are embracing these industry challenges, they are taking advantage of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Machine Learning (ML), data science and analytics in their R&D organizations. However, the biggest challenge they face is how to deliver this data-driven approach to drug discovery at scale across an entire organization; to accelerate critical research processes, automate insight generation and deliver better informed decision making and ultimately reduce time-to-patient for new medicines and therapies.

During this event we will explore what it means to be ‘Data-Driven’ and how to accelerate the transformation in R&D.  We will also look at the next generation of new technologies like quantum computing which have the potential to revolutionize the discovery and development of new medicines.

Finally, there will be an opportunity to network and discuss success stories and digital R&D strategies with likeminded peers from across the Life science industry

Agenda

09:30h

Welcome coffee and registration
10:00h Welcome and introduction
10:15h Enable breakthrough innovations with the power of data.
It takes over $1 billion and 12 years to bring a new drug to market. New technologies have huge potential to accelerate innovation and reduce costs, but many organisations struggle to realise the step change they anticipate from adopting them. We will discuss how organisations can overcome these challenges by examining real examples from pharmaceutical companies, from early stage discovery to manufacturing trials.
10:45h Round table: Is your organization Data Driven?
11:30h Coffee networking
12:00h Quantum computing: how to engage with an emerging technology in drug discovery
In the coming decade, quantum computing brings the promise of developing new therapeutics faster and more efficiently. While several pharmaceutical organisations have started their exploration of the technology already, the path to future quantum advantage has many challenges and it is important to understand how to position investments in a way that drives value over time. We will give an overview of quantum computing in the life sciences and outline actions which organisations can take today as part of a successful roadmap for this emerging technology.
12:30h Conclusions
12:40h Life Sciences Networking
